Disgwylir i\u2019r ffermwyr fesur eu porfa drwy gydol y tymor pori a chyflwyno samplau i\u2019w dadansoddi. Mae\u2019r data a ddaw yn sgil hynny yn ffynhonnell werthfawr o wybodaeth ar dyfiant porfa yn lleol a rhanbarthol, ynghyd \u00e2\u2019r cyngor rheoli defnyddiol a ddarperir ar gyfer y gymuned ffermio.<\/p>\n<p>Ar y cyd a\u2019i frawd Huw Llyr, mae Richard yn rhedeg Penmaen Bach, fferm 60ha o dir isel yn bennaf, wedi&#8217;i lleoli ger Pennal ac aber Afon Dyfi yn ne Gwynedd. Maen nhw\u2019n cadw diadell o 400 o famogiaid Aberfield croes sy\u2019n cael hwrdd Abermax a\u2019r nod yw pesgi\u2019r holl \u0175yn oddi ar borfa ar system bori cylchdro sydd hefyd yn cynnwys sicori a llyriad.<\/p>\n<p>Meddai Richard: \u201cMae gen i ddiddordeb mewn pori wedi\u2019i reoli ers blynyddoedd. Mae lleoliad Penmaen Bach yn golygu ei bod yn fferm lle mae porfa\u2019n tyfu\u2019n dda, felly rydym ni\u2019n ceisio cadw\u2019r costau mor isel \u00e2 phosib drwy wneud y defnydd gorau o\u2019r glaswellt, gyda chnydau gwreiddlysiau yn y gaeaf.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnd roeddem yn gweld bod pesgi \u0175yn oddi ar y borfa yn mynd yn fwyfwy anodd, er gwaethaf cynnal profion Cyfrif Wyau Ysgarthol (FEC) a rhoi triniaeth yn \u00f4l yr angen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eglurodd Richard: \u201cRoeddem yn credu i ddechrau fod gennym broblemau gyda mwynau a maetholion yn y pridd. Felly, pan glywsom am y prosiect, fe wnaethon ni neidio ar y cyfle i gymryd rhan a dadansoddi ein mwynau fel y cam cyntaf.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cymerwyd samplau o\u2019r holl gaeau ar y fferm 220-erw a&#8217;u hanfon i&#8217;w dadansoddi trwy GrasscheckGB. Dangosodd y canlyniadau nad oedd unrhyw gobalt yn gweithio yn nhir isel y fferm nac yn y tir pori garw. Yn ogystal, roedd yna ychydig o ddiffyg seleniwm, \u00efodin a sinc yn y caeau.<\/p>\n<p>Meddai Richard: \u201cAethom ati\u2019n syth i ddatrys y broblem drwy roi bolysau i\u2019r ddiadell ar ddiwedd 2022. Yn ogystal, rydym wedi bod yn mesur tyfiant y borfa yn rheolaidd &#8211; mae pori cylchdro yn gwneud hyn yn haws gan nad ydym yn delio drwy\u2019r amser \u00e2 phorfa fer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ers gwneud y newidiadau, mae&#8217;r fferm wedi gweld arbediad blynyddol o \u00a34,000. Rhoddwyd y gorau i roi dwysfwydydd i\u2019r \u0175yn Aberfield X Abermax yn 2023, am fod gwell defnydd yn cael ei wneud o\u2019r borfa.<\/p>\n<p>Meddai Richard: \u201cCafwyd gwelliant aruthrol yng ngwerthiant yr \u0175yn y llynedd. Tynnwyd yr \u0175yn olaf oddi ar y borfa ym mis Medi \u2013 55 diwrnod ar gyfartaledd yn gynharach nag yn y blynyddoedd blaenorol \u2013 a chawson nhw eu pesgi heb unrhyw ddwysfwyd. Rydym wrth ein bodd gyda\u2019r canlyniadau.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ychwanegodd: \u201cMae\u2019r prosiect wedi ein helpu i leihau\u2019r mewnbynnau\u2019n sylweddol ac i gynnal cynhyrchiant wrth besgi \u0175yn heb unrhyw ddidolborthiant \u2013 maen nhw i gyd yn cael eu pesgi oddi ar y borfa. Cafodd yr anghydbwysedd mwynau ei gywiro ac rydym wedi stopio defnyddio gwrtaith Nitrogen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dywedodd Dr Heather McCalman, Swyddog Gweithredol Ymchwil, Datblygu a Chynaliadwyedd yn Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC) &#8211; sy\u2019n bartner ym mhrosiect GrassCheckGB: \u201cMae Penmaen Bach wedi dangos sut mae defnyddio data o\u2019r fferm, yn cynnwys cofnodion y tywydd a mesuriadau porfa, yn ei gwneud hi\u2019n bosib gwneud gwell penderfyniadau busnes. Mae cael data yn helpu ffermwyr i flaen gynllunio, gwella cynhyrchiant ac effeithlonrwydd.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMae porfa yn adnodd hynod o bwysig ar y fferm.
