Meat buyers and importers from all over the world enjoyed tasting Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef at the Anuga trade fair in Germany last month.

HCC’s presence at the event was productive; numerous meetings were held with current customers, and connections made with new contacts who responded positively to both the quality and sustainability of the products, and to the tasty samples they were served.

HCC’s Market Development Lead, Jason Craig said: “We had a very busy few days in Anuga, talking to people from all over the world about the unique qualities of Welsh red meat. It was also great to collaborate with the Welsh Government’s Food and Drink Wales team, and to welcome Deputy First Minister Huw Irranca-Davies MS to our stand. He even helped us cook up some delicious Welsh Lamb cutlets, smothered in Welsh butter and sprinkled with Halen Môn Salt!

“Six processing companies accompanied HCC to Anuga and have reported that it was a constructive event for them. Many discussions that started during the trade show have continued since returning home, hopefully leading to new business for Welsh red meat in overseas markets.”

A reception to celebrate Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef was also held, hosted by HCC Chair Catherine Smith and attended by buyers and guests from across the international food and drink sector.

Whilst in Germany, HCC representatives attended the British Meat Dinner and the GREAT British Food & Drink Showcase reception which featured the UK produce represented at the trade show. Both were further opportunities to connect with exhibitors and many buyers, influencers, importers and exporters from around the globe.
