HCC Chair, Cath Smith, and CEO, José Peralta, welcomed the opportunity to meet with the newly appointed Welsh Government Cabinet Minister for Rural Resilience and Sustainability at Cardiff Bay last week. The constructive and forward-looking discussion provided an opportunity to brief Cabinet Minister Llyr Gruffydd on HCC’s new strategic action plan, while also exploring the current challenges and opportunities facing the red meat sector.
The meeting reflected a shared commitment to strengthening the resilience and sustainability of the industry, with a particular focus on collaboration across the supply chain. There was clear alignment on the importance of working in partnership to support producers, processors and the wider sector.
Speaking after the meeting, José Peralta said: “We look forward to building a strong and productive working relationship with the Minister in the years ahead, as we continue to drive progress and ensure a positive, sustainable future for Wales’s red meat industry.”
