{"id":1500,"date":"2024-05-24T14:36:24","date_gmt":"2024-05-24T14:36:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test.hcc.creo.co.uk\/?p=1500"},"modified":"2024-05-24T14:36:24","modified_gmt":"2024-05-24T14:36:24","slug":"hcc-looks-forward-to-sustainable-grass-and-muck-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/meatpromotion.wales\/en\/newsroom\/hcc-looks-forward-to-sustainable-grass-and-muck-event\/","title":{"rendered":"HCC looks forward to Sustainable Grass and Muck event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hybu Cig Cymru \u2013 Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) is looking forward to join the wider industry and levy payers at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society\u2019s Sustainable Grass and Muck event, which is held at Aberystwyth University Farm, Trawsgoed on Thursday 30 May 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The event provides an excellent opportunity for the levy body highlight the important role livestock farmers play in managing their grasslands and muck and how those actions shape the road to Net Zero farming in Wales.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe future of the industry and how red meat producers can continue to produce food efficiently and sustainably in an ever-changing environment, will be top of the agenda for us here and this event is an important platform to highlight the sustainability of the red meat sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur team is looking forward to talk about all things grass with those coming to visit our stand and are at hand to discuss various projects that HCC is currently involved in which provide tangible answers on how to grow better grass, such as the GrassCheckGB project,\u201d said HCC\u2019s Dr Heather McCalman, Research and Development and Sustainability Executive.<\/p>\n<p>HCC\u2019s Head of Sustainability and Future Policy, Rachael Madeley-Davies will also join a panel of experts at the \u2018Sustainable Science Seminar\u2019 as a keynote speaker at 1:30pm, which is part of the event\u2019s series of knowledge exchange seminars.<\/p>\n<p>The team will also be handing out copies of the newly published Recommended Grass and Clover List which is a handbook of grass and clover varieties drawn up after rigorous testing.<\/p>\n<p>HCC staff are also available to discuss the new Meat Minds programme, which aims bring passionate and enthusiastic individuals together to develop their knowledge and experience of the sector\u2019s structure and red meat production from farm to fork, providing them with practical workplace experience and exclusive industry insight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are many things that red meat producers in Wales already do well \u2013 the Welsh Way of farming is indeed an exemplar for how it should be done &#8211; growing grass and increasing biodiversity on the land are just some of those examples.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut there\u2019s more we can do as an industry to tackle climate change, from further reducing greenhouse gas emissions and cutting waste to promote economic and cultural sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to engaging with industry stakeholders on these issues throughout the day, and hope to see many of you at our stand,\u201d added Dr Heather McCalman.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hybu Cig Cymru \u2013 Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) is looking forward to join the wider industry and levy payers at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society\u2019s Sustainable Grass and Muck event, which is held at Aberystwyth University Farm, Trawsgoed on Thursday 30 May 2024.
