Welsh red meat promotion body Hybu Cig Cymru \u2013 Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) is targeting red meat misinformation through the launch of a newsletter targeted at health professionals.<\/p>\n

The Red Meat & Health Bulletin is a bilingual, quarterly update from HCC for individuals working in healthcare looking for evidence-based information around red meat and health. The bulletin includes resources on specific health areas such as: red meat\u2019s nutritional qualities, research and policy, updates from healthcare professionals and balanced recipes to use at work or home.<\/p>\n

The first edition of the Bulletin will focus on the topic of red meat and fat.<\/p>\n

In addition to the newsletter, HCC will be attending the Royal College of Midwives\u2019 St David\u2019s Day Conference in Cardiff later this month. The event will be an opportunity to connect with midwives and the wider midwifery community and share information on the health benefits of consuming red meat during pregnancy.<\/p>\n

HCC\u2019s Consumer Executive, Elwen Roberts, commented: \u201cFeedback from health professionals has identified that there is a demand for evidence-based information around red meat, so the new Red Meat & Health Bulletin will provide bilingual information for nurses, midwives, doctors and anyone working in the health and care profession. The midwifery conference in Cardiff will be another opportunity to respond to this demand for information on red meat as a good source of protein, iron, zinc and vitamin B12, all of which are important nutrients during pregnancy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that there can be mixed messages in the media and online around red meat and health but we intend to ensure that health professionals have the most up to date research and evidence around red meat and the role it can play in a healthy diet and lifestyle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Working with education and health professionals is a key part of HCC\u2019s remit. Looking ahead, Elwen commented: \u201cWe are looking forward to continuing our important work in this area in 2025 and to sharing more information and resources in the coming year.\u201d<\/p>\n
