There was a marginal decline of 1% in <strong>exports<\/strong> of UK beef on the year, but export value increased by 28%. This reflects continued strength in global beef markets underpinned by tightening supplies. <strong>Import<\/strong> volumes remained broadly stable.<\/li>\n<li>UK sheep meat <strong>production<\/strong> rose by 2% (DEFRA) with sheep and lamb slaughterings remaining stable at around 12.9 million head. <strong>Exports <\/strong>saw a 9% increase on the year, reaching the highest level since 2020. This led to an increase in value too \u2013 up by 12%, supported by firm domestic and international price levels. Sheep meat <strong>imports <\/strong>also increased in 2025, up 3% on the year.<\/li>\n<li>UK pig meat <strong>production<\/strong> increased by 3%, with <strong>exports<\/strong> also rising \u2013 by 5%. However, the value of exports fell by 5%, as did the level and value of UK <strong>imports<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Firm global demand and elevated prices supported trade values in 2025, although tighter domestic beef supplies limited growth.
