Visitors to the Royal Welsh Show are invited to discover the latest cattle services available through\u00a0EIDCymru,\u00a0Wales’s\u00a0online livestock movement\u00a0traceability\u00a0service.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Already familiar to sheep keepers across Wales,\u00a0EIDCymru\u00a0now offers services for cattle keepers, and the\u00a0EIDCymru\u00a0team will be on hand\u00a0at\u00a0the show to provide information, answer questions and help farmers create their cattle accounts.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since 1 July 2026, cattle keepers\u00a0in Wales\u00a0have been able to\u00a0register with\u00a0EIDCymru\u00a0to check their BVD (Bovine Viral Diarrhoea) status and view both\u00a0herd\u00a0and animal status information. The new\u00a0EIDCymru\u00a0system\u00a0is\u00a0designed to collate and\u00a0disseminate\u00a0Welsh BVD test results allowing cattle keepers and vets to\u00a0reduce the risk of\u00a0BVD on their\u00a0holdings. This industry led incentive\u00a0demonstrates\u00a0how farmers, veterinary professionals and government\u00a0can\u00a0work together to\u00a0monitor\u00a0herd health and\u00a0to\u00a0support the eradication of the disease\u00a0throughout\u00a0Wales.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To make registration as straightforward as possible,\u00a0EIDCymru\u00a0have\u00a0produced step-by-step videos to guide farmers through the account creation process. These can be viewed on the\u00a0EIDCymru\u00a0YouTube channel:\u00a0<\/span>EIDCymru\u00a0– YouTube<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

EIDCymru\u00a0Lead, Gwion Aeron, said:\u00a0“We encourage all cattle keepers\u00a0in Wales\u00a0to create a cattle account on the\u00a0EIDCymru\u00a0website\u00a0to gain access to their BVD results.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The BVD system is built on the same platform\u00a0which\u00a0will support the cattle registration, movements\u00a0and\u00a0deaths services that will be transferred from British Cattle Movement Service (BCMS) to\u00a0EIDCymru.\u00a0The\u00a0EIDCymru\u00a0Cattle Service\u00a0is\u00a0being delivered in a series of phases to reduce risks to Welsh and GB cattle traceability, minimise the burden of change on industry, and ensure\u00a0appropriate support\u00a0is available throughout implementation.\u00a0By registering for the\u00a0EIDCymru\u00a0BVD\u00a0service now, keepers will\u00a0already\u00a0be registered for the cattle services\u00a0once\u00a0BCMS\u00a0transfers to\u00a0EIDCymru.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Gwion added:\u00a0“For now, the key change for farmers is that BVD status information is available online through\u00a0EIDCymru. It\u00a0sits alongside the\u00a0online\u00a0sheep, goat and deer\u00a0movement reporting\u00a0services\u00a0which\u00a0are\u00a0already available.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
