Farmers from across Wales are invited to join an innovative farming business and Hybu Cig Cymru \u2013 Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) for a special GrasscheckGB workshop.<\/p>\n

The workshop is held on Thursday 22 February 2024 at Penmaen Bach near Machynlleth, where Richard Rees and his brother Huw Llyr run a 90-hectare holding, grazing a flock of 400 Aberfield cross ewes to Abermax rams.<\/p>\n

The farm has been part of the GrasscheckGB initiative for 2 years already and has provided data and support that has been invaluable for the business. The family aim to finish all lambs off grass on a rotational grazing system incorporating chicory and lucerne. The farm is trying to keep costs as low as possible by emphasising grass production and root crop use for wintering.<\/p>\n

Joining the workshop is consultant Andy King will share an analysis of this season\u2019s farm grazing data and explore how it helps on farm decision making.<\/p>\n

Rachael Madeley-Davies, HCC\u2019s Head of Sustainability and Future Policy said: \u201cThe work that has already been done here at Penmaen Bach provides a real in-depth insight into what can be achieved if we use data to its full advantage.
