Research

In Wales, we have looked after and lived with the land and nature for many centuries. HCC’s ambition is to project the practices behind our successful sheep and cattle farms in Wales – our non-intensive ‘Welsh Way’ of farming- and collectively make them into a global exemplar of how to produce quality food, sustainably and efficiently.

Of course, that doesn’t mean to say we can’t continue to improve our production system. We’re all committed to getting even better, and then showing these new gains to the world. In Wales, the old harmoniously fits in with the new.

For instance, HCC has published a practical guide for farmers, which sets out ways to reduce emissions and increase carbon sequestration- and on these pages you will find out about other ways to keep your farm up to date with contemporary sustainability issues.

Working with partners in the industry, HCC has helped to support a number of projects which have explored the potential of various measures to enhance the sustainability of the sector – from evaluating options for livestock bedding to reducing waste and greenhouse gas emissions.
