Grass is the most important crop to the livestock sector in Wales. It underpins the livestock industry giving Welsh agriculture a key competitive advantage against many other livestock production regions across the globe.

Grass is the cheapest feed farmers can grow and is a high-quality feed for sheep and cattle. Improving grassland management effectively is a key driver of profitability on beef and sheep farms with each additional tonne of dry matter utilised per hectare worth £204 per annum. Therefore, improvements in grazing management will help increase quality and quantity of grass grown, optimise livestock growth rates and improve the carrying capacity of land.

This section outlines some past projects in which HCC has been involved. Below are some publications on the management of grassland, water, and soils.
