Strategic Marketing & Communications
Laura works in the communications team in the Strategic Marketing & Connections department where she delivers external communications on HCC’s work and the wider red meat sector to levy-payers, media and wider stakeholders through a range of traditional and digital channels.
Responsible for in house design and dissemination of marketing materials including point of sale literature, health and education materials, merchandise and stand buid designs.
Also responsible for producing corporate communication materials for organisation, to include materials relating to the Strategic Marketing and Connections, Supply Chain Delivery and Sustainability and Future Policy departments.
Responsible for identifying audience led, on message and timely digital communications and creating and implementing a digital content calendar for HCC’s consumer social media platforms, websites and newsletters.
To act as a specialist for Welsh red meat working with opinion formers within education, health and other consumer groups to project a positive image of red meat as part of a healthy diet and lifestyle. To promote the work of HCC through broadcast interviews, cooking demonstrations and assist in the production of promotional and marketing material and the design of trade stands.
The campaign executives role is to manage HCC’s consumer brands’ positioning and guidelines; managing HCC’s brand marketing campaigns for Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef in the UK and overseeing brand marketing in overseas markets in association with the Market Development Lead.
Also part of the role is managing of HCC’s Pork from Wales activity. The role also sees management of HCC’s Advocacy and Defence Activity and consumer press office work. The campaign executive is seen as the brand guardian for the consumer brands.
A member of HCC’s in-house communications team delivering an integrated message to reinforce HCC’s reputation as the red meat authority in Wales. This includes communicating HCC’s core messages to all stakeholders across the industry, as well as the general public, on a daily basis using all branches of the media and numerous digital platforms.
The role entails identifying story ideas and writing press releases, articles and copy for a range of print, broadcast and online media outlets, as well as planning, implementing and promoting HCC’s presence at events, conferences and demonstrations.
Sustainability & Future Policy
The key priority of focus in this role is to monitor, interpret and inform the emerging policy landscape by liaising with government, stakeholders, levy bodies and partners, so that future funding support for the industry can be accessed and secured.
Principal responsibilities and key activities include engage, liaise and consult with governments, agencies, levy bodies and partners to share and promote the industry agenda and priorities, informing government policy and identifying future funding support opportunities, mechanisms and access. Coordinate and oversee the development of compelling, evidence- based tenders and project bids, working cross functionally to ensure compliance with procurement policies and financial viability.
Working with the Head of Finance and Corporate Governance to set and monitor budgets effectively, ensuring achieving value for money. As well as overseeing the priority areas of focus for market and industry analytics and intelligence to deliver critical insights into world trade developments, global supply and economic trading conditions and consumer demands and trends, to include scoping data gathering and analysis opportunities relating to challenges of Sustainability metrics for industry good and policy insight.
The Intelligence, Analysis and Business Insight Executive is responsible for managing the business intelligence hub that shares data and insights on global trade, economic trends, and consumer behaviour across the industry. They interpret market and industry data to support policy development, identify new initiatives, and collaborate with stakeholders to enhance supply chain sustainability and profitability. Additionally, the role involves assessing industry performance against sustainability targets, and liaising with government and industry bodies to inform policy and funding decisions.
Supply Chain Delivery
Coordinates delivery of activity to support primary producers and processors with advice and support to underpin the quality, efficiency and sustainability of the red meat sector in Wales. Oversees the PGI Certification Scheme for PGI Welsh Lamb and PGI Welsh Beef.
The role involves helping primary producers improve their efficiency, performance and sustainability. The role also includes collaborating on animal health and welfare improvements and business efficiency, and support and help deliver various externally funded projects.
Finance & Corporate Governance
Key member of the Senior Leadership Team, leading the implementation of the organisation’s financial strategy, managing cost effective and on time operational delivery with responsibility for relationship and compliance management with Welsh Government, industry bodies and Audit Wales.
Organisational and professional accountability for the effective management and financial reporting of the organisation’s annual funding stream ensuring rigorous stewardship of public funds and propriety and value for money for all expenditure.
The postholder provides financial and accounting support to the organisation and has primary responsibility for the analysis, reporting and recording of financial transactions for HCC / EIDCYMRU (EID), for account reconciliations and for the preparation of monthly management accounts and reports.
