Unravelling the aetiology of CODD

This project, co-funded by BBSRC, HCC, AHDB and Liverpool University, aims to discover the principal microbes responsible for CODD infections, where they originate from and the environments that encourage their survival. It will also look at the immune response of sheep to these infections. This will be done through metagenomics testing of CODD lesions and also identify if there are antigens present within sheep that could aid in future work on vaccines. The results from this project should aid a better understanding for farmers and veterinarians on how to improve disease control.
