PGI Welsh Lamb meatballs will soon be available to families in supermarket stores across Wales.

Edwards, The Welsh Butcher have just launched their Welsh Lamb meatballs which will be available across selected Tesco stores in Wales from 24th September 2025.

Edwards have already become a household name, best known for their popular sausage, bacon, Welsh Beef burger and meatball products. This new product is the first PGI Welsh Lamb product to be sold in Welsh supermarkets and represents the beginning of a significant new chapter in the Edwards story and is the first of a number of new Welsh Lamb products set to launch from the brand.

Edwards, The Welsh Butcher was founded by farmers’ son Ieuan Edwards in 1983 who entered the butchery trade at the age of 21. Following a butchery apprenticeship, Ieuan undertook training in Switzerland and Holland to become an acclaimed Master Butcher. The Edwards’ team have been sharing their award-winning produce with shoppers across Wales and beyond through various supermarkets for over twenty years, whilst the original Edwards’ of Conwy butcher shop based in the heart of Conwy town recently celebrated 40 years in business.

Edwards Managing Director Simon James commented:

“Following on from the success of our PGI Welsh Beef meatballs, we are extremely pleased to be launching PGI Welsh Lamb meatballs into Tesco stores this September.

“This represents 12 months of hard work from the Edwards team and its producers, and we are thrilled to finally be adding Welsh Lamb products to our range. These Welsh Lamb meatballs are perfect for quick mid-week suppers and can be served with a range of accompaniments and sides to make delicious dinners to suit all tastes – making them perfect for the whole family.”

Jason Craig, Market Development Lead from Welsh red meat promotion body Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) commented:

“This is great news for consumers as well as the red meat sector in Wales.  It is fantastic to see this type of innovation here in Wales which will hopefully allow more families and shoppers to choose and cook Welsh Lamb going forward.”

To celebrate the launch of Edwards’ Welsh Lamb meatballs, HCC has created a new Asian-style glazed Welsh Lamb meatballs recipe served with steamed rice and vegetables, available to view here or at: https://eatwelshlambandwelshbeef.com/recipes/asian-glazed-welsh-lamb-meatballs/
